Claude MCP
Add Dayfile to Claude.
Dayfile MCP is read-only. Claude can see cloud-synced notes you approve, not notes marked On Device Only.

You stay in control of the connection.
Dayfile MCP gives Claude a narrow, read-only way to retrieve the cloud notes associated with the Dayfile account you authorize. It does not give Claude permission to edit a note, delete a note, change a folder, or publish anything on your behalf. Notes that remain On Device Only are deliberately outside the connection.
What remains private
On-device notes are excluded. The connection does not turn your notebook into a public link, and another user cannot authorize access to your account.
How to remove access
Remove the Dayfile server from Claude when you no longer need it. You can reconnect later and complete authorization again rather than leaving an unused connection active.
A safe first check
Start with a harmless search, such as asking Claude to find a non-sensitive note by topic. Confirm the result matches the notes you intended to sync before using Dayfile context in a larger task.
Authorization is account-specific. The browser approval step is where you confirm which Dayfile account is connecting; do not complete it on a shared browser under somebody else's session. If the wrong account appears, stop, sign out, and restart the connection from the correct account.
MCP is a retrieval bridge, not a backup system. Keep using Dayfile's normal sync and account controls for your notes, and review any Claude-generated answer before treating it as authoritative. A context packet can omit a relevant note or reflect wording that has since changed.
