Use this checklist to collect enough context for a useful reply without asking the homeowner to do an estimator’s job. Our Fieldwork preview shows the actual starting form.

In this guide

Separate maintenance from a project

Use service choices that reflect the jobs you accept: lawn maintenance, seasonal cleanup, planting, or another clearly defined service.

  • Explain what is included and when a visit is needed.
  • A customer requesting weekly mowing should not have to guess whether “landscaping” also covers a large installation.
  • A sample prompt for a project is: “What would you like changed, and when are you hoping to start?” For maintenance, ask whether the work is one-time or recurring.
  • These are questions for scoping, not an instant quotation.
  • Avoid asking a customer to calculate materials, identify every plant, or provide precise measurements before the first conversation.

Start with the fields already in the template

The landscaping template includes approximate yard size, one-time or recurring service, and access, slopes and project priorities as industry questions.

  • It also provides contact, service and preferred-time controls.
  • Inspect the preview and the current field list below before deciding what to change; required and optional states are shown from the template itself.
  • Keep a yard-size estimate optional if a customer may not know it.
  • Ask about access and priorities in ordinary language.
  • A useful response might be “small front yard, side gate, tidy the beds before autumn.” That tells the team where to begin without presenting an unreliable automated price.

Collect location without collecting sensitive access details

Make your actual coverage area visible next to the request action.

  • If you need a service address or ZIP code to assess travel, add an appropriate question in the editor; do not assume the landscaping default already includes the cleaning template’s address field.
  • Check the configured form before advertising what it collects.
  • Do not ask for gate codes, alarm details, or instructions to enter an empty home in a public form.
  • Arrange sensitive access details directly once the visit is confirmed.
  • Tell customers how to contact you for urgent concerns; this request inbox is not an emergency-response service.

Use photos and scope to set expectations

Show original work with permission and add captions about what changed.

  • If a planting job does not include irrigation, or maintenance excludes hauling large debris, say so.
  • Be precise about the difference between a starting price, an estimate, and a confirmed quote.
  • Remove example credentials or guarantees that are not yours.
  • The basic template form does not include a dedicated photo-upload field.
  • Do not promise uploads on the page unless you have separately implemented them.
  • Arrange a suitable follow-up channel when photos are needed.
  • The template also does not calculate routes, reserve a crew, or create recurring appointments.

Test the request from both sides

Preview the page on a phone and submit fictional details in the demo; no inquiry is sent.

  • Save your edited draft to your account, reopen it, and check the fields and contact information.
  • After hosting activation and explicit publication, send one labeled internal test and verify it appears in the portal.
  • Confirm the visit using your real calendar and explain the next step to the customer.
  • The single-page website plan is $20 per month when activated, with any new domain charged separately.
  • If you need multiple service pages, payments, staff schedules, or document uploads, agree on a separate scope before relying on those capabilities.
